The terms “ethical manufacturing” and “sustainability” have become the new words among the millennial generations. This is certainly one of the advantages of the internet era that we live in is access to information. Our increased consciousness has given rise to concerns about our ways of life, which in turn leads to scrutinizing our habits.
One of the largest threats to our planet is people's obsession with purchasing and mindlessness over consumption. Being ethical is about decreasing any negative impact our actions may have on other people, environment, and animals, while also trying to maximize the positive impact wherever we can. When it comes to business it's about having a triple bottom line which is people, planet, and profit, while when it comes to lifestyle, it’s making sure that our actions empower others to thrive. Ethical issues should encompass the effect on humans, animals, and the environment.
Ethical behavior and corporate social responsibility can bring significant benefits to a business. Being ethical manufacturing means we have integrity, conscious living, transparency, good process & business care, positive outlook, reduced impact on animals, improved lives, sustainable resources, equality, diversity, and human rights.
Being an ethical manufacturer means it is about positive values. For us, at S&F Garment Manufacturing it means taking actions based on these beliefs and finding like-minded clients who share the same values with us. Being in an ethical business for more than six years now, we believe that this issue matters more today than a few decades ago. For us being ethical is not something that is “nice to have” facet to a fashion business industry, but instead its a “must aspire to”.
We have been working together with designers and labels globally who share the same value with us since 2014. The time that we have spent in our factory is more than just a business for us. We believe that our employees are also our family and core to the business, that is why we nurture those relationships by providing them a fun, ethical, and dynamic work environment. We have an English class for every employee who wishes to upgrade their English skills, morning exercise every once in a week following breakfast after, celebrating birthdays, picnics, etc. For us, to take care of our factory family in addition to making great quality products a big part of what makes our process ethical. We approach every step of our business with these guardrails, and this includes our clients and suppliers. With these pillars of ethics and principles, we ensure that all the people who work with us are respected, valued, and feel safe.
